Executive Summary

Tag Display is a WordPress plugin for advanced tag management, available on WordPress.org with hundreds of active installations. Born as a personal project to solve a concrete problem – WordPress offers no native controls to customize tag display – the plugin has evolved into a complete solution with 5 templates, a Gutenberg block, and a flexible shortcode.

Problema

WordPress displays tags anonymously and offers no native tools to customize their appearance without modifying the theme. Every site has different needs: some want tags as colored buttons, others as hashtags, others as proportional clouds. Existing solutions required custom code or heavy plugins that did much more than necessary.

Soluzione

Tag Display was designed with a guiding principle: do one thing and do it well. The plugin offers five ready-made templates, a dynamic Gutenberg block, customizable shortcode, and theme override without modifying the plugin. Each template has customizable colors via admin color picker.

Tag Display nasce per risolvere un problema semplice: WordPress mostra i tag in modo anonimo, e non c’è nulla di nativo per cambiarli senza toccare il tema. Il plugin aggiunge cinque template selezionabili dall’admin o via shortcode, ognuno con colori personalizzabili tramite color picker.

How It Integrates

Three options available: [ s7n_tag_display ] shortcode, Gutenberg block with sidebar controls, or automatic display before or after content. The block and shortcode accept parameters that override global settings for that specific instance.

Chi vuole controllare l’output completamente può creare un file tag-display-template-{nome}.php nella root del tema il plugin lo rileva al caricamento della pagina. Nella cartella examples/ è incluso un file starter con tutte le variabili disponibili: $tags, $display_title, $display_nofollow, $display_new_tab, $display_show_count.
